In 1790 he became the master of choristers at the Cathedral of Pécs in Hungary. In 1798 Krommer became the Kapellmeister for Duke Ignaz Fuchs. He was appointed Music Director of the Ballet at Court Theatre in 1810. From around 1818 until his death in 1831 he worked as the composer for the Imperial Court of Austria. Over his lifetime he published over three hundred compositions including nine symphonies and seventy string quartets. Krommer’s Concerto for two Clarinets was first published in 1802.
