A Classic Season's Greetings

Symphony Series II: A Classic Season's Greetings
December 8, 3:30 PM
The Commons, 300 Washington St., Columbus, IN
Masks are optional

Celebrate the holiday season with your CSO! Symphony Series II will feature several favorites from the classical orchestral repertoire to commemorate the season. This time we send season’s greetings to Russia, Italy, and England! Ottorino Respighi’s Trittico Botticelliano was inspired by three celebrated paintings by Sandro Botticelli. The second movement L’Adorazione dei Magi includes a familiar carol sung to this very day. Corelli’s Concerto Grosso Op.6 No.8 is a gem in the baroque string orchestra repertoire. It was inscribed “Fatto per la notte di Natale” (made for the night of Christmas) and includes a beautiful pastoral scene at the end. Tchaikovsky’s Suite from “Swan Lake" needs no introduction. Along with the Nutcracker, it is one of the most celebrated Russian ballets often performed this time of the year. Get ready to waltz your way into the new year!

Free concert – our gift to the Columbus community! No tickets are required with free admission. Seating is first come, first served.

This event is made possible in part by the Columbus Area Arts Council, and the Indiana Arts Commission, which receives support from the State of Indiana and the National Endowment for the Arts.
